This one-pot sausage orecchiette pasta with broccoli is the ultimate family-friendly meal! 1 lbItalian sausage, thinly slicedor 1 lb of ground pork
1tspsea salt
2cupschicken bone broth or vegetable stock
1 cup heavy cream or milk but it won't be as creamy
2cupsuncooked orecchiette pasta
2cupsfrozen broccoli
¼cupfresh grated parmesan cheese
Instructions
Melt the lard in a large Dutch oven or skillet. Add the garlic and onion. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the onion is translucent and the garlic is fragrant.
Add in the thinly sliced sausage or ground pork and cook until browned.
Sprinkle sea salt in and scrap the bottom of the pan to remove any stuck-on bits.
Slowly add the bone broth and heavy cream. Bring to a boil, then add the uncooked pasta. Return to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook for about 15 minutes before adding in the broccoli.
Continue to simmer until the pasta and broccoli are cooked. Once they are, remove them from the heat and top with freshly grated parmesan cheese. Serve and enjoy.
Notes
If you don't have Orecchiette pasta you can substitute it with another pasta of your choice. Be aware that this might affect the length of cooking time.
Cream - Heavy cream is best but you can use a lighter cream or milk but it will make a thinner sauce.
This is a great freezer meal. Cook as directed above but allow to fully cool in a freezer-safe container before freezing. When you are ready to eat DO NOT THAW. Heat from frozen at 350 until bubbly and hot.
